Brown bear cubs (Ursus arctos) are born hairless in their dens in January or February. Litter sizes range from one to four, with two being the most common size. Cubs will emerge in the spring and quickly gain weight. This inquisitive cub was found waving to visitors at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center near Portage, Alaska.
