Donna Dewhurst,
Anchorage, Alaska.
I worked as a wildlife biologist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for over 30 years. Now retired, I devote my time to freelance photography and writing to share Alaska’s amazing wildlife and wilderness. My passion is interweaving science, traditional knowledge, art, and humor. I like that photography can be an “instant” form of storytelling in this age of screens and streaming everything. In Alaska, it’s still easy to visit public wildlands; photography encourages that and even tickles viewers to smile now and again.
