No. 1000 was the first diesel electric locomotive on the Alaska Railroad coming online in 1942. It is a 1000 horsepower diesel electic engine which could pull an average of 1000 tons on straight, level track. The engine is on display in Wasilla, Alaska at the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry.

Shannon Cartwright is perhaps Alaska’s most prolific children’s books illustrator, having illustrated over 30 books, 8 of which she also wrote, for a total of 1.5 million books in print. She has spent most of her time n Alaska since 1972 living off the road system. From working a set net in Bristol Bay, to leading horsepack trips in the mountains of the Alaska Range to the Brooks Range, to personally exploring the wilderness, she knows Alaska and her illustrations and writings reflect that.

The cards are printed in Alaska on matte paper that meets the Sustainable Forest Initiative guidelines that promote responsible management of the world’s forest.

Mounted in an 8 x 10-inch double-matt with a blue interior reveal, hand-signed by Shannon.

Packed in an eco-friendly clear, compostable plastic enclosure.
