Description

Denali Dawn

Denali National Park

Denali Park has a short summer which begins in June and fades away in late August. As the vegetation begins to change color and the temperatures cool down, a mist is commonly observed rising from Wonder Lake in the early morning hours. This is caused by the rapid cooling of the warm air over the water.  Denali is Athabaskan for “The High One,” and its vertical rise from base to summit is greater than that of Mount Everest. While the mountain is frequently obscured by clouds, the early morning hours generally yield the best opportunity to see the summit. Denali’s North Face falls steeply and abruptly in the morning shadow and, in contrast, Pioneer Ridge and the east side of the mountain is lit by the pink light of dawn.

Printed in Alaska on matte paper that meets the Sustainable Forest Initiative guidelines that promote responsible management of the world’s forest.
