Fireweed & Dragonfly
Double-matted card with custom accent cutout
Photograph by Steven Nourse
The common fireweed (Epilobium angustifolium) typically grows from two to five feet tall but can reach seven feet in coastal areas. Their colorful pink flowers, blooming in July and August, can be used to make jellies and honey. When the fireweed stops blooming, winter will soon return. The dragonfly was chosen by Alaska schoolchildren as the official state insect.
Printed in Alaska on paper that meets the Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI) guidelines.
