Description
Flying Alaska
Southeast, Alaska
A Cessna 206 flies over nunataks of the Coast Range rising above the Juneau Icefield in Southeast Alaska. With over 9,000 active licensed pilots, one in 58 Alaskans is a licensed pilot, making it the highest per capita of any state in the United States. Alaska also ranks highest in per capita in plane ownership, having roughly 16 times the national average. This is because of the vast size of the state and the fact that 82% of its communities, including the capital Juneau, are not accessible by road.
