Description
A Whale’s Tale
Southeast, Alaska

The tail, or fluke, of a Humpback whale is one of the things that people delight to see while out on the open water in Alaska. Each fluke is distinct like fingerprints, providing observers and researchers the ability to identify unique individual whales. A view like this is also a sign that the whale is preparing to dive, only to surface again for more air, and another chance to delight in seeing its presence.
