Jon Van Zyle has been celebrating the essence of Alaska from his own personal experiences for over 50 years. He was born in 1942. Entirely self-taught, he paints 70 to 80 original paintings a year. His art has exhibited in over 250 solo exhibitions throughout the United States and Europe. Jon has published over 400 limited edition prints, posters and stone lithographs, as well as giftware and fabric designs. He has also illustrated over 50 children’s and adult books for major book publishers.

Jon’s own experiences gathered from competing in the Iditarod in 1976 and 1979 led to nearly 50 continual years of official Iditarod posters and prints. He was named the Official Iditarod Artist in 1999 and inducted into the Iditarod Hall of Fame in 2004.
