Description

Blue Solitude

Juneau, Alaska

A lone hiker enjoys some quiet time in an ice cave within Mendenhall Glacier in Tongass National Forest near Juneau. Formed by meltwater flowing through the glacier, ice caves are dynamic and constantly changing shape. They can be unstable due to melting and glacial movement, and are generally only safe to explore in the colder months. The can also be quite temporary, as glaciers constantly shift and recede.

Printed in Alaska on matte paper that meets the Sustainable Forest Initiative guidelines that promote responsible management of the world’s forest.
