Description

Flowers for You

The collared pika (Ochotona collaris) is a small and charismatic animal closely related to hares and rabbits. Their name comes from the Siberian spelling of the same animal, puka, and is the only species of pika found in Alaska. They live in colonies in mountainous meadow regions, finding shelter among large rocks and boulders. Surprisingly, this little animal does not hibernate in winter but feeds on food gathered during the summer months. They can often be observed busily gathering stems and leaves of various grasses, flowering plants, and small shrubs.

Printed in Alaska on matte paper that meets the Sustainable Forest Initiative guidelines that promote responsible management of the world’s forest.
