Description

Mendenhall Glacier & Lake

Tongass National Forest, Alaska

Located only 12 miles from downtown Juneau, the Mendenhall Glacier is one of the most accessible glaciers in Alaska, receiving over half a million visitors a year. A view from the ground does not really give a sense of how large this glacier is. With an aerial view, we can see much more of the half mile-wide, 13-mile-long glacier. The Mendenhall Glacier is the most visible portion of the 1,500 square mile Juneau Icefield; it takes ice 200-250 years to travel down the glacier and arrive at Mendenhall Lake.

Printed in Alaska on matte paper that meets the Sustainable Forest Initiative guidelines that promote responsible management of the world’s forest.
